Looks like Machine Doubling. On a RPM, there is not a reduction of the mintmark, but an enlargement of the mintmark. (meaning the mintmark is larger than normal, but also showing a spread between punchings) I have a coin with a large mintmark, but no spread. So it is not a RPM. There were different styles of mintmarks that year: But none exactly like this one. While it is not a variety because of the mintmark, it is a variety because of the DDR: While this is a listed Wexler listing, it is not on his site right now. But it was funny to see the image of the mintmark when it was on the site. But as mentioned, I feel yours is a MD example. Other devices on that area may also show the same thing when you view the exact direction that the mintmark was affected.
