I recently received this bi-color Canadian penny. My best guess is it was played with in some high school chemistry lab and zinc plated partially. But I may be off base, because my knowledge is limited. I might be a coin with a solid copper center and another metal surrounding it. Any thoughts?

This looks to me like a coin that has been improperly cleaned and then improperly stored after being improperly rinced. You can get all sorts of crazy toning after acetone / PVC / other chemicals left on the surface. This is definitely not bi-metallic, but exactly what yielded this tone would require someone with better understanding of chemistry than I ;)
