No, nothing NEEDS to be done. If you are selling something you can ask whatever price you want for it. There is, nor would I want some government entity out that deciding and telling me what I can ask for what I am selling. It is up to the buyer to know what the going market value is for the produce he is buying. "Caveat Emptor" let the buyer beware. Goes along with another phrase "A fool and his money are soon parted."
Now there are some thing that you are NOT allowed to say. You can't promise a given return or usually even that they WILL make money on a purchase. It used to be you couldn't even mention the word investment, lest the SEC come down on you for selling unregistered securities. (That went away to a large extent during the GSA CC dollar sales when the GSA kept calling them an "investment". Hard to charge someone for a crime while you are committing the same offense.) That's why they will often call things "treasured heirlooms" you can pass on to your children and other such garbage. Their script/spiel may be misleading but believe me it has been gone over by their lawyers and there are no outright falsehoods or anything illegal in what they claim. They do NOT lie about what they are selling. They may make certain implications, but what they are hoping is the buyer will make inferences that are not actually supported by the evidence.
