It has been a while since I last posted anything on this forum so here is a quick catch up on what I have acquired recently. As the title indicates, these are all Macrinus coins, no Diadumenian. I am slowly putting together a Provincial group of as many issuing states as I can, budget permitting. Condition is not a strict rule as many offerings have issues and the price does escalate rapidly for the best on offer. Here are a selected few - TARSUS, CILICIA CAPITOLIAS, DECAPOLIS SELEUCIS ad PIERIA, GABALA SILLYUM, PAMPHYLIA Edited by tenbobbit 04/20/2020 09:36 am

Thanks for the kind words Bob. Its a slow process as pickens are pretty slim due to a lack of material but I have plenty of time and patience. Thanks FR, you are correct that bronze is beautiful The coin is not quite that large, it is 34mm & 16.21g but still a very good size in the hand. The figure in front of the bust is the cult statue of Apollo Lykeios with 2 hounds on hind legs either side. Lovely coins, If I were to collect Roman coinage again, the provincial series would be the area I would want to concentrate on. There are so many more examples to choose from.

Thanks Ron, Bacchus, DrWho & Kev You hit the nail on the head Ron, so much more variety with Provincials. DrWho, Macrinus made many mistakes but his refusal to undertake the required cull of ALL family members and then retire the legions loyal to them was in my eyes his biggest mistake. Hello Kev, how the devil is one ? Hope the better half & noblet are well, I have seen and spoken to them not long before the lockdown. Have you been banished to the basement or are you coping ok ?

Quote: Have you been banished to the basement or are you coping ok ? Ha ha. Well with the rules because of this covid19, have had to close the mansfield shop so got plenty of time on my hands and yes, I am in the basement! Good guess lol.

Cool provincials! I love that Cilician coin with the cool little device on the obverse field, is that Diana and a hound?
