Hello,

My father passed away in 2012 and I have just now started to think about his coin collection. He had traveled the world from 1970 until 2009 for a sugarcane equipment company. In his collection are hundreds of coins with many duplicates. From early QEII coins, to a 1978 scallop QEII/Hong Kong brass coin. It is laborious and exciting searching for a rare coin but I have so many different countries that I don't know where to ask if they are rare, not so rare, or everyone has that coin.

What to do? Thank you.

Have you separated the coins by country?
An important first step.
The CCF membership appreciates that a member post one coin at a time.
Ask for help in doing so.
Good luck and good hunting.
Oh, numista.com is a great tool for foreign coins.

Thank you so much... In process of separation today. Once again, thank you. I think I have been bitten by the coin wasp.

There is no cure. The only treatment is obtaining more coins!

Start a new post with title and denomination:
Ex: "1979 Hong Kong 50 cent piece"
Post a picture within this new post.
Ask for help! New members often have trouble posting pictures. There is a tutorial to instruct you.

Actually, a simple list by country, date and denomination would be sufficient for 95% of the coins. The ones with potential we can ask you to post photographs.

Just to be realistic, if this is a collection of circulating coins of that period they would have minimal value. There is no point having hundreds of photographs of common coins.

I spent most of the night trying to fight the new found addiction. There are mainly Britian/Africa, South Africans, middle eastern, Kenyan, Egypt, Lots of Rhodesia, and several canadian coins.

There is no cure.

Your best bet is to learn to live with it and utilize your support group here at CCF.

We are all in this together!

I'm new here also and I saw someone recommended an app to help you I use one called Maktun and it will identify your coin for you along with all info about it and add it to your collection in the app. For value, NGC gives a lot more realistic value than the app as was also mentioned. Good luck
