Someone was trying to create an error coin. When he realized it wasn't looking like he wanted it to look like, then he spent it. Coins should stay out of the garage!

I have not seen one with this type of or this much wear but it does look like just a worn penny. The weight looks like it matches what you would expect from a 1980 copper with that much wear.
