1916 Lincoln Wheat Penny - Help Die Crack Or Lamination Error?

Rosalita Valued Member United States 96 Posts	Posted 06/02/2020 10:41 am Hi guys, I am new to the coin community. I found this coin in my grandfather's collection and I have a few questions. Is this considered a die crack or a lamination error on the obverse of this 1916 Lincoln Wheat penny? Also would like to know why the obverse rim is wider than other coins I have seen? Is this an error from the mint or just due to flattening from normal circulation? Thanks very much. Report this Post to the Staff

ijn1944 Bedrock of the Community United States 19210 Posts	Posted 06/02/2020 4:15 pm Subtle lamination on a classic, early LWC. I'm thinking flattening of the rim due to circulation--can't rule out the cent being a proof. Unsure. Others may have the answer. Report this Post to the Staff
