Hi guys,

I am new to the coin community. I found this coin in my grandfather's collection and I have a few questions. Is this considered a die crack or a lamination error on the obverse of this 1916 Lincoln Wheat penny?

Also would like to know why the obverse rim is wider than other coins I have seen? Is this an error from the mint or just due to flattening from normal circulation?

Thanks very much.

The Lamination issue is a band. One edge is under Liberty. The other edge is through the date.

Subtle lamination on a classic, early LWC. I'm thinking flattening of the rim due to circulation--can't rule out the cent being a proof. Unsure. Others may have the answer.
