OK, I've just sorted a bunch of modern 1, 2 and 5 drachma coins. Was leaving space for future additions when I noticed I was missing all the odd years. This seems too much of a coincidence. Does the mint in Greece produce new circulated coinage only on even years?

And if so, have I just created a bunch of empty slots i'll never use....
Thanks

If you look at the figures on numista, you'll see that the only odd year they struck 1, 2 or 5 drachmes is 1993 (also 1999 for 5 drachmes), but even that year they didn't strike coins for circulation, only proofs and sets.

Very interesting.,,
Depends on how far back you are going:
There are 1971 and 1973 1 Drachma (KM-98), 2 Drachmai (KM-99) and 5 drachmai (KM-100). And if you go back to the 1950s, you'll find odd dates of 1 and 2 drachmai.
FOr some reason, my local coin shop here in Ohio always has plenty of Greek coins in their 20 cent bins. Some of those coins from the late 1970s are pretty neat.

Yes, I have some odds from the 50s and 70s but all the 80s and 90s are only even. Will have to shuffle the coins along when I eventually pick up some earlier ones.
