Quote: Its surprising how few people do buy the book, and fewer even read the book once they do. It really is surprising. Why in the world would someone want to devote so much time, energy, and money to something they know little or nothing about? We have a saying in Computer Geek Land (I'm sure you've heard it) - RTFM: Read The Fascinating Manual. You can't even ask one question of your local IT Department Staff if you have not RTFM. Because if you have not, you have no clue what you're asking about, and wouldn't understand the answer anyway! It's the same with all new things. If you don't learn, you run the risk of getting taken, and when you do you don't have anyone to blame but yourself. Don't get me started about people being responsible for themselves, and their actions...

The date on Reverse image #2 (labelled as image 3 in the image) also looks off. It looks bold compared to a normal 1948 coin, and as a result, may be a counterfeit. Better resolution images are needed though to confirm.

resolution is NOT the issue...it is fine.... it is the king itself that is different...the face, the nose...... HHB

On the 1948 reverse images the 8 in date of one image leans a different way to the 8 on the other imagess. As an Aussie and not big on Canadian dollar coins, I don't know if varieties exist with this date or what. Just it looks different and may be the counterfeit coin. I'll wait to see the answer. Thanks HHB.

Ok, here is the counterfeit 1948 Dollar. It is nelieved to be made in Lebanon. I personally found 4 of them. All in Germany 2 of them were confiscated by German Police... the long story later, as it is very interesting. but, here it is. HHB Image: fake48.jpg88.24 KB and here is the one I had on here before...a fake... HHB Image: 19484.jpg83.36 KB

Ah yes, one is a negative and slightly larger than the other but can now see it is same coin. It has the 8 leaning left which was different to what I thought was on other coins. Wayne

If you are referring to the 2 pics 1948 and 19484 as to being the same coin......how did you change the 4 and the 8 in the date?

The 4's as well as the 8's are not even close? Why would you say they are the same coin?.............. one 4 has a tail on the cross bar curving up, one does not......one 4 has a rounded diagonal the other is straight, the 8's are totally different......inner loops.....one round......one not......crossing between loops.....one same size.....one three times larger? LOL same coin....NOT

You are right Gopher, I missed that, especially the inner circles of the 8. Also the 1 is different.
Now I am confused. I'm glad I only purchased the 1935 $1. Please don't tell me there are any counterfeits of it.

There is a time and a place where games and inuendo take over from fact finding. I believe this thread is at this point. The coin with the bulbous 8 comes from China. No doubt. I am done with this post.
