I disagree that we are too "classy" for aluminum coins. Look at the crappy corroding cents that have been minted for the last 26 years. Aluminum would be better than zinc...but probably cost more.

That will never fly before some big event happens. There are way to many Christians that wouldn't agree to it. I wouldn't let them do it to me or my future kids.

On the cent and nickel actually..

I think we should switch to steel or do away with the cent. Likely do away with producing it... Let stores start pricing stuff to the 1/20 of a dollar instead of 1/100. The inflation effect is mute. If you lost 4 cents on every purchase and purchase a total of 100 things a week 52 weeks a year, then that is $208 a year. That is less than 1% inflation and the price would likely go up that much anyway.

I think the Nickel should be ended as well. I think we should bring back the Half Dime in clad. It would be very profitable to mint. I guess they can make a Half Dime for around 1.5 cents each. After, nickel/copper prices go up, then start pulling the nickels to melt down for recovering the metals.
