The banks I go to RARELY have halves....I ask everytime I go and strike out 95% of the time. However, when I do get 'em, 90% of the time there's been silver!

I live in a huge city and it doesn't matter where I go...all the way across town even...halves are rarer than hen's teeth.

well I can find them, but it is getting harder.
I go to school about an hour from my parents house. I have been using one bank as a dump bank. I have moved most of the halves from my area at school and around my parents house to that one bank, which I am assuming they ship off to the fed.
When I first started.... I found one group of around $300-$400 with about $100 in 40% and maybe $10 in 90% another time, Then another group of $100 that was all 40%. Other than that no big scores, and my supply at banks is very much down to a roll or two here and there.
I have ordered boxes before, but I don't every get that much from them. A 90% here and a 40% there isn't saying a whole lot.

yeah halves are extremely common by me, bad thing about being common is I have only found 3 silver ones in 15 rolls, most of the are the bi centennial ones I stock up until I have about $120 worth and then go on the 29th and have them shipped to their warehouse

Got 6 Ikes and $20 in $2-bills from my bank on Saturday. I love spending the $2's around town. People have no idea how to react when I spend them. It's kinda fun.

The Halves are out there but they dry up fast when a CRHer moves to town. I got stationed in Hawaii in the early 90's. The Fed there must have still had some original rolls in the vault from 1964. I started to order boxes as I have always done and was doing pretty well, much better than in NC where I started roll hunting. I hit a streak of 8 boxes of solid 1964 BU halves. I still have one box in the safe. I've sold of the rest, bought a MS65 RB 1909 S VDB with the profits after that it was over, I guess I got to the bottom of the pile, everything dried up slowly after that and I ended up quiting the halves there all together. When I got to where I am now, I started to order from the banks and did very well for 6 months. I probably score 5 or 6 hundred in face doing 6 boxes a week, eventually this area dried up too. I still get a box every now and then but most of the time there's just a couple if any. Oh those were the days before everyone figured it out (and Jackson Metals emptied the Fed's)

Wow, boxes of solid silver halves!! It would be a dream to find a box like this, but I am almost sure this will never happen. How many Walkers and Franklins did you come across in Hawaii? I agree though, years ago silver was much more plentiful. It was not uncommon to find 100 40% silver halves as recently as three years ago.
