How I should have put it is: Can a coin be Doubled Die and have MD on it also?

I don't see why not. One occurs during die preparation, and the other occurs during striking.

I guess whether you can SEE both is a different story.

Most of the 1969-S DDO-001 have the Machine Doubling and the doubled die on them:
Can-They-Be-Both?-Doubling
The full date is doubled, but Machine Doubling is indicated with yellow arrows in just one direction. Sloppy machine.
