I'm not convinced the lack of luster is just the photos—you can see light reflecting off the Mylar, but not on the coin. You'll have to assess it in hand, but if it really has no luster, it might be a details coin. Report this Post to the Staff

There are at least as many spitting eagle 1891-CC coins as there are ordinary 1891-CCs (source: Carson City Morgan dollars by Crum, Oxman and Ungar). I found the seller of the OP's coin, and compared it with a different BU Morgan he has listed. These are the seller's photos using the same setup and lighting on both coins. Clearly the second coin has decent luster, while the 1891-CC looks dull and lifeless. I would avoid this coin as it definitely doesn't have original surfaces. Report this Post to the Staff
