Ok currency experts, I have a 03 Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond $2 star note that when entered in to lookup data base it states not found? Now if you look up the same serial Number but in the $1 data base you get results. Any input on this is appreciated.

What database are you looking at?

Series 2003 $2 * notes were printed for collector sales.
According to the A Guide Book of Unted States Paper Money 16,000 Richmond FRB notes were printed.

The PMG population report indicates they've graded 127 of these notes.

It looks like the database you're using is only including the circulation * notes (Minneapolis FRB) and not the collector sales notes.

Yes Bad dog the site is for circulation bills http://www.mycurrencycollection.com...otes/lookup. I was not aware of a collector series note. This makes sense that the site I use will not have the bill in the data base. thanks for your efforts.

The question remains why does the $1 star note # ping on the circulation site but not the collector series?

I believe the website uses the BEP monthly production reports which shows regular production notes used in circulation and not special printings targeted to collectors.

There are MANY more $1 FRNs put into circulation than $2 FRNs. For the 2003 $1 FRNs, 8 of the 12 FRBs had * notes printed for circulation. Richmond was one of the 8, so when you entered your $2 SN as a $1 SN the database found a corresponding note.

The only Series 2003 $2's that were issued for circulation were printed for the Minneapolis Federal Reserve district. I believe they were printed for other Federal Reserve districts, but were only issued in BEP collector products. These were not reported in the BEP Monthly Production Reports, therefore there is no official data on how many were printed for the other FRB districts.
