Hi: The coloring and patching on this coin is not familiar to me, any insights on how this coin reached this state? The yellow on steel is odd?

to CCF. Better photos please. One full coin pic obverse and one full coin pic reverse. Make sure to crop before posting. If the edge of your coin is shiny it has been re-plated.

To me, this coin looks like it just had a bad life, but I'll let the others chime in to see

Better photos needed--larger and higher resolution.

Looks to have been altered. Possibly one or all of the following: plated/polished/circulation damage.

No added value and not worth more money to collectors b/c of the damage. But still an interesting piece of WWII history.

Looks like it started rusting at one point in it's life then reprocessed/replated and circulated some more. Hope you didn't pay a lot for it

I read an article on Morgan dollars concerning toning and how it occurs. There was a reference to the material(s) in which the coins is stored. For example, a satchel (canvas bag) as well as earlier folders for collecting with materials/dies/chemicals for such folders react with the metals causing the tone. Just wanted to put that out there. How this applies to "steel cents" I'm not sure... just more info.
