I am seeking Weight Tolerance specs for post-1982 Lincoln cents. What would be the allowed variance in hundredths of a gram?

That's an interesting question. Although the nominal weight of 2.50g is well known, I've never come across a tolerance for weight.

Of course excessive wear could bring the weight down significantly, I'd bet an upper tolerance would not exceed 2.60g.

It'll be interesting to see if someone has a firm answer.

I'll check later when I have my books at hand but I think it's the same as the copper alloy coins +/- .1 grams.

I'd agree with Conder101. And I'm curious why you want it.

I have a couple Zincoln planchet sets(Type 1, Type 2 unplated, Type 2 plated) and all but two weighed what I would have expected. One Type 2 unplated was 2.503g and a Type 2 plated was 2.597g.
Rest in Peace

According to the Coneca Handbook the 1982 to date lincolns weigh 38.581 grains with a tolerance of 1.54 grains.

I was right on the specs for the Zincolns, the tolerance on the copper was off though, they are allowed .13 grams +/-

So a Zincoln can weigh from 2.4 to 2.6 grams and still be within tolerance.

Sounds good, I was hoping it went up to 2.6g so they fall in range. Thanks for the hard numbers
