Tolerance Specs For Zincolns? - Coin Community Forum

Although the nominal weight of 2.50g is well known, I've never come across a tolerance for weight. Of course excessive wear could bring the weight down significantly, I'd bet an upper tolerance would not exceed 2.60g. It'll be interesting to see if someone has a firm answer. biokemist6 Bedrock of the Community United States 12437 Posts	Posted 11/26/2008 3:44 pm I have a couple Zincoln planchet sets(Type 1, Type 2 unplated, Type 2 plated) and all but two weighed what I would have expected. One Type 2 unplated was 2.503g and a Type 2 plated was 2.597g. Report this Post to the Staff

Conder101 Bedrock of the Community United States 17884 Posts	Posted 11/26/2008 7:31 pm I was right on the specs for the Zincolns, the tolerance on the copper was off though, they are allowed .13 grams +/- So a Zincoln can weigh from 2.4 to 2.6 grams and still be within tolerance.
