Note how the doubling has actually decreased the size of the letters instead of increasing them and how the doubling is relatively flat and shelf-like. Report this Post to the Staff

On the 'O' on GOD, note the left side of that device is fuller than the right side of the device, all because of Machine Doubling. If this were a doubled die, the edge would not be affected. The centers of the devices would be affected: Note the 'E' 'WE'? Note the spread on these two different double dies on Liberty: That line in the center is called spread. If the line is not there it will ne noticed by the spread between the hubbing on the die creation. Machine Doubling a affects the outside edges of devices.
