I've been thinking, how many rolls/boxes/bags do you search at a time? And how often do you make a bank run?
I go to the bank once a week on Fridays and get one $25 box. What do you think, is that a good amount?

I pick up a box of cents and nickels every week from one bank. If I have time to do more, I will pick up another box or two here and there. My first month I was doing 5 or 6 a week spread out over a handful of banks... but dumping was a pain. So I slowed down once I was out of the honeymoon phase of CRH.. lol

Hey Guys! Super stoked about this potential find in a roll. Was wondering if you might give me some advice about grade? I can't find any flaw in this beauty at all. Then again, I am a newbie. What grade do you think this could bring? Worth slabbing?   |

For the last couple months, my weekly order is 2 boxes of cents and 2 boxes of nickels. The teller that I always order from and pick them up from absolutely loves my hobby. The only thing I feel bad about is making her carry all the boxes up to the counter. I usually dump two big mason jars at a time ($175 in nickels between both, or $60 in cents. and yes I know $60 is more than two boxes). This weeks order consisted of four boxes of nickels, which are more fun for me. Plus they aren't as dirty. |

That is a very nice 69 you found! but it costs something like $10 per coin to get slabbed. Its not worth it unless its a rare date or an error or something. Just keep it and put it in a coin book or save it somewhere safe.

2 1960-D small dates
Those were my last boxes for a while. I will be happy to take a break from them.

I just finished a box today with mediocre results. 3 common wheats, and a few upgrades to existing coins with nicer coins. and I did pick out some bu 60s and 70s coins.
I found a strange 1993. It looks like a steel penny in color, Its not copper looking. It is not magnetic. working on pics.

Acid penny. I have half a dozen or so of these. A steel color with black stuff on it right? Acid has taken off the copper coating

I agree, TPGs are for when you find something really rare. Here is a good rule to follow: The coin you are thinking of sending in should be worth at least what it costs to get it slabbed. I found a BU 1946, 1956-D, and a 1957-D in coin rolls. But I won't get them certified because each of them are worth under $1. They are now in 2x2s with the rest of my wheat/Indian Head cent collection from CRH.

Nice find! That actually doesn't look like it came into contact with acid, its too intact. If I were you I would send it in to a TPG. Someone on this thread found something similar. When it returned, it was certified as an error! |

oooh, that is exciting. The coin is in pretty good shape too, definitely not acid damaged. I will try to get better pics of it.
