good for you shadz. thats a very high yield not just for me, but it seems pretty high overall. No worries in getting rid of them - to each his own. I get rid of mine by selling them.

Estedman - I sell on ebay or craigslist. ebay I sell for 149.99 plus buyer pays shipping for 100$ face I end up netting about 25-30 bucks. If I sell on craigslist - I ask for 130$/100$face. I used to have a guy that bought all of mine for 145 - 155/100$ face, but he got flaky and just stopped getting in touch with me. he bought 500$ in face though, if not more.

I then use the proceeds to buy silver or upgrades for my sets of Jeffersons, wheats, or buffs or IHC

BUT, I found my first ever counter-stamped cent, a 1976 cent with the state of Michigan on it. Maybe I will find the other 49!
Very nice!

I've found a few counter stamped pennies over the years. Lincoln cents with Kennedy's profile and I think one commemorating the space program. I imagine these were once souvenirs that found their way into circulation, pressed out by a machine in the Gift Shop lobby.

Found these and a few more in a single 50$ bag. Found about 35 wheats, but half of them are older - mostly teens. Best was a Bu/AU 1909 - used it as an upgrade. It actually has a small lamination error too.

I apologize for the subpar picture and this is probably a huge stretch, but I wanted to see if I might have something rare here. I'm pretty new to collecting pennies, but this is the first I have seen that was damaged in this way. It seems like someone could have taken a chunk out of it somehow, but the weird thing to me is that it's so clean where the damage is. It's not bent or otherwise distorted other than the missing piece. Thoughts?

I use the macro setting on my camera or a digital microscope. Do a search on the site for coin photography, lots of info here.

I use my iPhone and a 10x loupe. Quick, easy and don't have to buy anything I don't already have.

Others here have better methods

1953d
1956(2x)
1956d

Nice take!! I believe that the Canadian penny is a centennial coin (1867-1967). I've been hanging onto these as I come across them (small handful by now). I don't think that they are worth a great deal, but interesting coins to collect. 1910 is a good find; can't think of what the oldest Wheatback I've found CRHing, but perhaps only in the 20s.
