I pulled the best quality ones a consolidated them into two really nice rolls. Not sure why or what I'm gonna do with them, but they are pretty to look at! I'll try to post a pic later.

Based on "my penny list" I think I just realized being on the west coast is a disadvantage when it comes to pennies. Seems like most of the errors and valuable pennies come from Philly.... Don't see many of those living in Cali.... :(

Haven't searched pennies in about a month but here latest finds have me itching to buy some rolls at work tomorrow. Maybe I'll get lucky and find something cool.

Agrippa - The fate of location. I see very few S Mint coins on this side of the country; maybe 3-4 per 1000 coins searched.

Nice score on the dimes.

and this crazy mint error. it does not look like PMD.
the edges are full.

I have to disagree, I know of nothing at the mint that could cause something like that.

Wow, I get 6-7 S mints per roll! However, I seriously only get 1-2 P mints per roll if I'm lucky. Let me know if there are any particular S mints you're looking for. I'd be happy sending them your way..... But of course I'd be taking the thrill of the hunt away from you by doing that....

Been so long you all have caused me to order a bag of pennies. I jsut hope it isn't all new ones and there is something worth finding in it. It will be in Friday so except results over the weekend or next week, and wish me luck! (I am hoping for more starfish from the Bahamas.)

One of my banks forgot to order my halves last week so I picked up a box of cents and box of nickels. I found a '36-S, '44-S, '53, '55, & '57-D Wheats. I also found a '67, '68, '76, 80', & '88 Canadian. I guess the '67 was a special one since it looked different than the typical Canadian cent. It had a bird or something on it. It was the first one I've found like that so I thought it was pretty neat. This box only had 11.84% copper.

It is their centennial with a Rock Dove featured on it. Not sure what that bird means to 100 year anniversary, but. 1992 also has confederation anniversary of 125 years. It only has a dual date on it though.

Some cool finds out of my first time coin roll hunting Canadian pennies. Two wheat cents and just over a roll of copper memorial cents. Plus 3 rolls of Zincolns out of the 50 rolls searched. Here are the most surprising finds, photos from oldest date to newest:

A 1912. Too bad it has 2 holes on the back of Lincoln's head and green and pink stuff is growing all over it. I think the one on the wheats is PVC gunk, it's the same colour as something I just removed using acetone from a different coin. But in the front it's the "Liberty statue colour" green. Aargh! My first coin that's over a century old too...

This is the 1946. My second ever Wheat cent. No verdigris in sight, good. First one was from a friend of mine, I saw this 1939 cent that doesn't have the picture of the building on it, but I didn't know it was valuable back then. I asked him if I could swap with him and what penny he wants. He said I could just take it and he says that he's not going to have ant use for it anyway. I paid him back anyway, because I know I'll feel guilty of I don't.

Here's a 1964D penny. I have never seen a Lincoln Cent this red and shiny before. The scan really doesn't do justice. Too bad there are very noticeable scratches on the forehead and beard.

Not as red as the 1964, but still pretty. Odd that sometimes the older coins are nicer looking.

Group photo. The 1946 is has the regular brown colour of tarnished copper.

And I also found this black dime. I have no idea how it got like this. It gives me a profit of $0.09 anyway

Hi Slur - glad you found some cents to look at up there! Have a closer look at the D mint mark on your 1964 - though I saw a reflection in a picture above that might suggest you have a variety coin - http://www.coppercoins.com/advsearch.php

Too bad on the 1912 regarding the Verdi; it can happen to the best of coins!! Otherwise, it has nice details for a 102 year-old coin. Happy Hunting!!

Hi Rackster. Thanks for pointing that out to me. I'd have never noticed it myself. I looked at it through my cheap dollar store magnifying glass (which doesn't seem to magnify it over 1.1x as opposed to the advertised 5x) and took several photos of it from several angles. There seems to be a little something on the inner right side of the D from the photos, but I can't tell beyond that. I can't actually see it with my eyes. My eyes are far too astigmatic, and I can't observe little details because my glasses has myopia correction too. Either way it's blurry what I see.
I'll try borrowing a microscope from the lab tomorrow. I'll get a photo if I can if I see anything interesting on that mintmark.

I'm going to try acetone to remove the green from the 1902 tomorrow if I get the chance. I really hope it's not verdigris. My hopes aren't high though, and acetone will never work for verdigris
And yes the coin doesn't look too worn. I've seen Zincolns in worse shape, I think I have one where the Lincoln seems to have sunk flat into the coin. Now which roll did I toss that in...
One thing I thought about the holes behind Lincoln's head is, did someone try to assassinate this poor little coin?

Question, is it just me or does Lincoln's nose seem to get bigger as the years pass? Like, his nose was small before the 1970s and the ones on Zincolns have huge noses.

Hello Slur - I guess I'm partial to the early Lincoln busts myself. Some of the new hair/beard details on the modern Zincolns looks too amateurish to me. If you can get better pic's, folks here should be able to determine if you have a variety coin.

These days, I need reading glasses to do the quick sort and the loupe to get closer to the details. I wish I had the eyes of my youth!

Hello everyone! I have been lurking on this forum for a while now and finally decided to join. I read most of the pages on this forum and thats what got me into coin roll hunting. Just recently I found a 1999 WAM! It was my first 1999 WAM I now have all three 1998,1999, and 2000.

That's awesome Jackson - I found my 2000 right away and since....thousands flipped but no 1998 or the rare 1999. But I'm enjoying the hunt just the same. Welcome to CCF!! Enjoy the community, the learning and sharing.
