Well I rolled 3 boxes in 3 hours so I could "deposit" them into my new credit union tomorrow morning. not having anything to CRH means I had the time, but ran out of rolls to finish the rest of them and now have no rolls for the bag if it comes in on Friday! it was just having so many cents even rolled, what was I going to do with them without feeding them to Coinstar at 9.*% fee for it to miscount them? It might be different if the coin star held more than about 25 coins at a time, but that silly tray is so small and you got to fill and lift and fill and lift and... using a Coinstar need to be an Olympic sport! Why would anyone be charged to deposit coins into their account? or since the CU lacks a coin machine, then there is nothing to charge for?

Latest pick - 2000 cents searched - around 600 copper - 17 LWC (1926, 1937, 1938) - 18 LMC (AU/MS coins inc. (2)1974 Ds) - 16 Foreign (all Canadian this time) - 8 S Mint (inc (2)AU/MS 1974) A little lighter on the LWCs but better on the S mint LMCs. % Copper in the mix relatively steady at 30% over past few months.

Neat! Those are really red Nice old cents you got there, I don't think I'll be finding any S mintmarks up here. Is there something special about a 1982D? Or did you just keep it because it's nice? So I guess since mine aren't missing obverse designs, it's not worth very much. I'll hold on to it anyway as an oddity. I also notice that quite a few of my zincolns have somewhat flattened United State s of America, and Et Pluribus Un um in the reverse. Just like the one With the MAD. They are from various years. Is this very common?

Brinks delivered today, a day early. gave me 2 boxes again instead of a bag! I took both boxes and told my teller I don't blame her and I would be calling the office she orders from and tell them to stop lying to my bank about having bags available because twice now they have sent boxes instead, and myself and the bank would appreciate them to fix their order form or just stop lying! EDIT: (to recycle post) #1 Brinks box stats: 2499x 2013 P 1x 1973 D EDIT #2: Brinks box #2 2500x 2013 P

shadz, I feel for you. I have had a similar experience lately with a box of mostly 2013d and another box of mostly 2014d.
It's a major disappointment to open the box and see all those shiny coins looking at you. Opening all the rolls becomes a pain instead of enjoyment.

if it were paper rolls I could reuse then I wouldnt' be so upset or a 2014d which I dont have yet, but these plastic rolls all of last year? it means what? they ran out and had to order more and they are getting new-old coins so the supply line is broken for finding wheats and canadians? I have never seena box like this before let alone 2. had one of nickels last year all 2013p, but pennies? really? you boxed only new ones why?
they could have bagged those and saved time and had the bags their order form says they will supply!

I feel your pain folks - luckily I've not gotten a solid pick of current released cents...but plenty of useless rolls not worth opening. 2 boxes...ouch!! Slur - S mint coins are harder to find but keep your eyes open as they are available. The 1982 D is the Large Date/zinc version. Red Book lists it for cheap which would suggest that it's readily available. I'm estimating that I've looked at around 30,000 cents and found this one specimen. My suggestion: save the best looking 1982 D LD/zincs. Regarding your MAD cent, I'd keep it. May not be worth much, but it's the baseline MAD in your collection until you find a better specimen. When you find one, save that and decide what to do with this one. You might end up keeping both for a while. Regarding the flattened details on your Zincolns, this is caused by grease and over polishing of the die details. If you look closely at a coin, you'll note many have fine to aggressive scratches/marks on the surface and diminished details/devices affected by folks reworking, dressing, polishing, etc. the die. Flattened details/scratches/marks occur on copper Lincolns and zinc ones too. Seems to be more prevalent in some years over others. Neat to look at, but values vary. 1983 LMCs have a well documented grease affected reverse where the E in E Pluribus Unum is almost missing on some coins. If you decide to keep ' Greaser' specimens, finding the ones with the most obscured details/devices are most desirable. Coop posted one where the obverse and reverse were recognizable...barely. I recall seeing one like that years ago...but I didn't know what it was so back into circulation it went. Keep up the hunt!! Good luck!!

I am still keeping all 82 I find because I haven't bothered to get a scale or anything to see which is which yet. but will keep any large date (not worried about variety mostly) if I have any jsut in case.

Lucky I had my zincolns sorted in ascending date! Easier to look through again. I'll have a look through those again and tell you if I found anything interesting.
shadz: I don't have a scale either, there's a way to tell it without weighing them. Have your unknown penny ready. Have a penny you know is copper and another one you know is zinc, as 'controls'. Balance a control coin on a knuckle and tap/hit/strike it with the other one. It doesn't matter which coin you use to hit the coin you balanced on your knuckle. Repeat with the other control coin. The copper one will sound different than the zinc one, the copper one will have a higher pitched 'ring' while the zinc one will sound 'dull' (basically it doesn't ring like copper). Now take your unknown coin and tap it like you did to the controls. Whichever control your coin sounds like, it is made of that material. I hope that is not confusing.
