Quote: Is it just me or is the design of the wheat and the older Geroge a case of "less is more" and jsut makes them more attractive than newer coins I agree completely, I find both Wheat and George V reverses nicer than the modern counterparts as well. My first George V was actually in a CWR someone used paying for smokes almost a year ago, I keep a detailed notebook on when I get coins for face.

nice finds all! I just finished my 28th box of cents for the year, and I was rewarded for my efforts with a hole filler! :-) 1909 vdb what can I say, things have been good recently. I'm also staring at a buff ender in a box of nickels left to do, well 2 boxes really. Anyway, here it is! some gunk on obverse, and some discoloration on reverse, but all in all not to bad for a hunted 115 year old coin. I got to flip it looking for the vdb, and when I saw it, well..... that is why we do these crazy things. I've now hunted a 1909 indian head and a 1909 vdb :-) oh yeh, 17 wheats in the box, 7 canadian, and wheats also included 1917, 1920, 1936d,

Lots of interesting finds here lately! Had a quick look at one box of pennies. I'll probably end up with another roll or two of Lincolns from this box. I haven't have a good look at any of them yet, I just had a really quick look through. I think no WAM or CAM but I'm not sure yet. I'll look through them again, closer, when I have more time. So after 49 rolls, no LWC. Didn't think there were any in this box. I was saving one roll for last because I had trouble opening it. Two LWCs! I don't know why, but my feeling says there's something funny with that '44. The copper ring is right, I hope I'm wrong. Also found my first S cent. Definitely not proof right? Nice strike nevertheless. I think that's verdigris on his chin...

The 1944 looks good to me, if I remember correctly they recycled used ammunition casings from the war and melted them down for the pennies for a couple years after the steel cents of 1943. That's why 1944 and 1945 pennies can seem a little off, because there's a slightly different composition.

If they hadn't figured that tick out we might have had a year or two more of steel cents. it is a bit creepy when you think about it, your penny may have held the killing instrument during the war. if all 1940s cents could talk!

And another box searched, the first 15 rolls were an utter bust and I almost gave up right there. All in all, a decent haul though. 11 wheats: 18, 37, 38 lamination cracks, 39, 44-D, 2x 45, 47-D, 56-D, 57-D, 58-D. A lovely 1974-S. And 8 Canadians: 62, 65, 78, 79, 2x 91, 95 and 97.

I just opened this box this morning before I left for work. Does anything catch your eye?

Nice WAM finds. I'm still looking for my first. Great finds and variety in recent posts. It's encouraging to see since my luck hasn't been too good lately.
