Box 1:

$5.00 from the bank. 1923-S, 1930, 1930-D, 1944, 1944-D and 1955. The interesting part is, the 1930, 1930-D and 1944-D were in the same roll. Also, some nice bright LMCs including 1959-D that looks AU with nice toning.

I gotta grab some pics and post separately asking your guys opinion, but I found what appears to be a 1914 D cent....MAYBE.

It's a 191- D. And it's pre-1918. So basically every so often I see really wiped "1914 D" cents on ebay sell for in the neighborhood of $70. Mine looks similar to those.

Don't despair.

Not all boxes give cool finds like those above. Most boxes I've done have been rather, well, mundane. For example, the box I just finished had 8 common wheats (40s and 50s), 2 Canadians, a couple of 2009s, and 3 memorial S mints. And about 2485 not worth mentioning.

Yeah, I save a few dates and check for varieties and errors (with little success), and I've found the odd 60-D small date or two, but most boxes have less-than-stellar finds. And I suspect that many/most of us have many less-than-stellar boxes (at least I *hope* I'm not the only one with less-than-stellar boxes {grin}). The posted finds show that keepers *are* out there, and knowing that others have unremarkable searches helps keep things in perspective. You guys *are* having some unremarkable searches, aren't you?

Keep on huntin' (and keep postin' finds)

Later today, I'll start on a box of halves. Now *that* might be a reason to despair {grin}.

While CRHing (is that a word?) I have noticed more "red," well, reddish, cents from 1964 and 1968 than other dates in the 60's. Anybody else notice that?

Speculation:
1964 cents saved because it was announced there would be no more mintmarks
1968 cents saved because it was the first year after resuming mintmarks

Thoughts?

Ok guys, it's gotten ridiculous (in a good way) at this point. Found my 4th IHP in less than 3 weeks! Went through $10 and found this 1907 (toned) IHP today. I also found an odd looking 1999. It's hard to tell from the picture but it's more of a silver color. Almost like the mercury coated pennies people did in the 50's.

Anyway.. still can't believe it.. 4 IHP in a month! I just started CRH in December and never found a single IHP in 7 months. Oddly enough I only found 1 LWC in the bunch and it was a 1940's P.
