Yes thanks J Buck, we try our best. I got this idea from our 6th edition of world coins. That was when I really started posting as I was just getting back into coins and starting to buy my Kiwi stuff (Sep 19 - Apr 20) and the Halfcrown mania began in Feb 20 and Florins added in Aug 20. I noticed by the time we reached 1940 people were noticing and reacting to the influx of downunder and particularly NZ coins from your's truly! I also saw that NumisRob and Steve both had great collections of these coins and like me also loved the stuff from the motherland (UK). The final piece was the old thread which started in 1910 on this part of the board and petered out in 1955, I think it was David Graham or Ryurazu had revived it and I decided that we were only 9 years away from the end of Australian Predecimal coins and therefore why not finish it off. NumisRob and Triggersmob joined in quick and then that naturally moved to a new thread in the style of the 6th edition of world coins with dates back in time. By that stage we had reached like 1690 and I had 2 or 3 coins left - so I needed a new outlet, also as my collection of Australian modern had blown up with 3 strategic buy ins and a nice surprise from Mr Triggersmob. And here you are. I can assure a nice parade of coins back to 1933, but you will see my pre 1940 Australia is patchy, but there are bits and pieces and everyone can be assured that at least there will a constant supply of One Shilling coins back to 1910 and most of the Bronze and many of the 3d and 6d, but Florins become bitsy before 1933 for me. Plus I know you are loving it too, as American minted coins are being shown now (Ha ha - all good). PS - Steve your collection of Wartime Australian silver

1942 for NZ was the year of varieties and most coins sans the 3d and Bronze are scarce from this year. As usual a nice Halfcrown (mid VFs) and a stunning but "cloudy" florin (Impaired EF) for you. Just 240k Halfcrowns and 150k florins issued. The varieties include the standard and "One diamond" Threepences, the latter has just one left diamond around the date. 3 million of the usual 3d (Mine is gVF) and just 250k of the one diamond one (Mine is aFine). Rumours abound of a "No diamond" 3d, maybe someone was learning on the job or having fun at the mint. Being wartime, beggars could not be choosers! Shillings include Standard (240k - Fine) and Broken back, the lower right portion of back is missing and is a scarce coin (80k or less from the 240k). Sadly my coin is a mediocre G/VG example - truly nice ones are very rare and expensive. The rest of 42 includes two very worn and stained bronzes and another worn 6d, these are on the "to replace" plan. Reverses of everything. Just as a heads up, we are in the last decade of NZ coinage now and just a couple more years of Bronze, once we hit the 1930s, the Kiwi Bronze goes. Before 1939 we used British and Australian bronze coins.

1942 in Australian coins was the first year of International aid in coin issuing with Indian bronze and silver minted in San Francisco and Denver. Now with the USA in the war - helped was given in coin minting as Japan threatened Australia and the north became a defense zone. I have many but not all of the 1942 varieties of Australian coins. No missing diamonds or broken backs here just letters and dots! Both Florins, a gEF Melbourne coin and a gVF but stained San Fran coin. Still good to have 2 shiners nearly 80 years old. Melbourne and San Fran shillings, a Denver 6d and Denver and San Fran 3ds, the Melbourne 3d was also issued, but is scarce next to its American cousins. The blackened thing that looks like a burnt penny comes from Perth. These coins are your usual F - VF stuff that saw circulation. I am missing all 3 types of Halfpenny (India, Melbourne and Perth) and Indian pennies. I am also missing a 6d or two and that Australian 3d - but my guess is Steve may have those coins Tomorrow as we hit 1941 we say bye bye to the International coins and strictly Made in Australia until we hit the 1910s. Reverses, the S Florin has that black wear

My 1942 NZ halfcrown isn't in spectacular condition, but was given to me by my grandfather in 1974! He lived in Hastings, Hawkes Bay and passed away in 1980 at the age of 95! In a few days' time I will be posting the only silver coin I ever received in change personally in New Zealand...

It is nice enough and the sentimental memories make its value priceless.
Also think about this, you have owned that Halfcrown longer than I have been alive!

Your Australian was very impressive, all of the Bronze I think and the 3d and 6d. I think between us, every variety of Australian coin from 1942 has been shown!
Great work!

1941 another year of mixed delights. Realtively good numbers of coins were issued this year. 2nd year issues of the Halfpenny were low next to 1st year ones. The halfcrown and Florin are lustrous aEF - two beautiful coins And the portraits, wanted to show these close up - lots of hair details. The rest is less spectacular The 1/- and 6d are your standard average circulated (VG -aFine) and the 3d is slightly better (VF). Bronze is usual high Fine to low VF. Reverse shot.

For 1941 in Australia, we retreat back to just one variety of each silver coin and I have 2 worn pennies. The Florin is EF/gEF and the rest is F - VF. No coins of 1941 are particularly scarce, but as we head back that changes. Close up of the Florin. Reverse of the coins.

Great coins guys.
We are now 80 years back in time, same year my partner was born.
As we enter 1940, we reach the hard period. NZ coin issuing drops off in the 1930s. No NZ coins were issued dated 1938 and apart from the Crown, none in Australia in 1937.
I have looked at my coins and my NZ is good - however only 3 coins issued in 1936 and 2 in 1939. My Australia is poor for 1939, but good for 1938 and 1934 - 36. Before that, expect some patchiness!
