@ OP , Since you don't know if they are real or not being the gambler that I am , I can offer you a reward of unspeakable value for the simple change of hands .

If you can't unscrew or pop the corners then drill the corner connectors or tape off the inside perimeter and use an oscillating multi tool to cut out around the perimeter of the coin jacket.

I'm also going back to that consignment shop.

Is it my imagination or are those slots for a screwdriver on the corner fasteners?

Not sure if I can answer all your questions but I'll try. With luck, a charity donation to the consignment shop "might" be in order. Hack saws, jig-saws or cold chisel's are not going to happen. Yes, there are slots for a screwdriver on the corner fasteners. The case seems to be glued shut. I'm not going to mess with it yet. Gambler?.. If I was I'd be a loser. That's why I'm apprehensive. I should be in a rush to resolve this but I'm not. When I rush, I generally screw things up! Beside, I'm in no rush to be disappointed. I'm actually wondering if I've been setup by that old lady in the consignment shop or one of you guys...........T-BOP!! So yes, I probably sound pessimistic. Been sitting here almost a week now digesting your posts and contemplating my next move. I'm taking it to a coin store on Saturday. They are on restricted hours. More to follow. Stby...........
