Only recently, finally, bought a 1955 die 1 for my collection. Hadn't really planned on upgrading it as while it is RAW, I figure it is AU and that's good enough to cover that die.

Then today on my coin run a dealer made me an offer I could not refuse and I bought this one. I'd say it'll be the top one in that slot pretty much for good now. It's POP 9/13.

The obverse fields show intense luster, and are essentially mark free. Lincoln has a couple minor nicks and one decent-sized cut on his beard. There are a few minor nicks on the reverse but it has a bit of light spotting (hard to see in my photo). Absolutely stunning in-hand. A few light scratches on the holder, mostly on the reverse, but nothing that detracts too much.

Thanks, and it really does look phenomenal in hand. Hard to believe it only scored MS 64 but guessing they knocked it a grade for the beard ding. I've seen many MS-65 coins with more problems than this coin has.

Nice going. So what are your plans for the raw au? I'm looking for one.

Thanks! PM sent to Jimbucks, but I don't plan on keeping the other one. It'll be sold in a private sale one way or the other as no need to let ebay and paypal suck up money that could be used to lower the cost to the buyer. The general plan was to slab it, as there is a non-zero chance it would go low MS grade, but for now it's still here.

I've gotten to hold a few of this die, red ones included , and it's always a thrill. But for me , a natural skin brown copper with hints of red and flashes of color reflecting back at me is a thing of beauty. This little gem has it all, the thrill of the die and gleaming looks. Big Congrats TB!
Rest in Peace

I've not said this about any cents that I have seen posted on this or any forum, that cent looks Majestic. Simply stunning.
