This is sooooo COOL! O.K. you know I love to take photos with my digital camera and microsope. Well I told my wife that I would love to MAP this entire Morgan dollar I have, so that I can see in great detail every single VAM line and error. I found this progam called AutoStitch! http://www.cs.ubc.ca/~mbrown/autost...ostitch.htmlThis allows me to perfectly blend my very close (large) pics together There are many tweaks I have to get used to, but I'll have it down in no time. the photos here are an example. They are different sizes and lighting. But you can see the black shadow of the lens where the photo is blended. What you can also see is the most important areas where the letters are, is blended perfectly! So here is a link to the very Large pic, and I will post the small ones here. http://www.msnusers.com/Walkingonth...o&PhotoID=18Thanks for Looking Image: morganERTchat2.jpg43.68 KB Image: morganTYchat3.jpg56.39 KB Image: Panochat1.jpg28.44 KB

We live near several beautiful mountain ranges. Best we have been able to do photographically is buy one of the cheap "panoramic" cameras to shoot the mountains. Now, thanks to your input, we try try another technique.

Thanks for taking a look. Glad you like this, because I intend to use this tool for a long while! The microscope I use I bought about 8 years ago. It has no name on it that I have seen, but it was meant for scientific use. 3 settings 4x, 10x, 20x . It also has a light under the item you are looking at, but with coins I don't really need that I do have a pic of it With my Daughter. I'm going to give this a shot with my QX5. I wonder how big the image of a whole coin would be at 200x?

That is the question isn't it Superdave. I found out the 4x means 40x, 10x means 100x, and 20x means 200x . At 100x I believe the complete stitched image would be the size of a very VERY large poster! But in this age we live in, strictly for my own pleasure I wonder if I could get it done at a Kinkos?

Very cool pictures. I have taken many pictures through a microscope, but I never really thought about turning the lens on my coins. Some numismitist I am!
