1961 Nickel - Possible Planchet Delamination And Struck-Through On Date

Reguy65 New Member United States 7 Posts	Posted 12/30/2020 6:35 pm Hello, I've got a 1961 nickel ( no mint mark)that appears to have the beginning of delamination on the obverse, as well as a strike-through on the date. The strike-through material appears to still be in place. See the close-ups below. It certainly seems to have happened at the time of strike and not something pressed in post-strike after it was in circulation. What do gents and ladies think? It might be a piece of the lamination as it lines right up? I'm not sure though and interested to hear what others think. Reguy65 New Member United States 7 Posts	Posted 12/30/2020 11:35 pm Thanks for the feedback. The delamination was interesting to find, but I felt pretty good about that call. It's was hard capturing a good image of the date. I took another photo and tried to really show the area around the "6". In the photo, the red arrows point to lines showing a separation between the "6" and whatever the other piece is. The blue arrow points to where that piece angles down towards the field.
