Kinda looks like some ghosting on the reverse which would be interesting on such a thick coin.

My Holiday schedule has me at sixes and sevens. I am not sure what it is. I will put this in the V/E sub-forum to draw more attention.

Quote: I noticed what appears to be a raised "line" (for lack of better terminology) between the 7 and 4 of the date. this line is not visible to the naked eye and also is not detectable with a 7x hand held magnifying glass It's really come to this now?

merclover...I don't understand your comment "It's really come to this now?". What has come to what? I bought several filled Dansco Eisenhower albums at a coin show a couple years ago bc I love the Ike dollars!. I never had a chance to really look at the coins bc my husbands health was declining. He passed away last January and I have finally started looking at coins again. I can't really see the MM well enough with the hand held magnifying glass so I put it under the digital microscope and noticed the raised area. I'm new to coin collecting and just thought an expert here might recognize this and have an explanation for it, that's all.

What I meant was we are not able to read minds. You gave us no info other than to say the issue couldn't be seen. I still don't know what it issue is, but perhaps this link will help; I hope it does, given the fact you searched CCF already: http://varietyvista.com/13%20Eisenh...rs/index.htm

merclover...Thank you for the link. I had already searched that one as well. I am the first to admit that I'm not very good with words and its obvious you aren't a mind reader...youre not a post reader either...to say that I gave no info on the issue other than the issue couldn't be seen, read it again, what I said is that it can't be seen with the naked eye, obviously it can be seen because I posted a clear picture of it! and that you still don't know what the issue is? Did you not read the heading "74 Ike with what appears to be a raised line between the 7 and the 4...and my intro "today I noticed what appears to be a raised line between the 7 and the 4" what part of that don't you understand? I posted a clear picture of it and all of the other guys obviously understood clearly or they wouldn't have bothered jbuck and I'm certain he wouldn't have taken the time to post in a sub forum for attention if he didn't see the issue. I left this forum for a year bc of uncalled for rude comments like yours. If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.Maybe I should just stick to gardening or find another forum.

Yes, I can clearly see it in the third image! I am just not sure what it is. I love the Ike and know a lot, but varieties and errors are not my expertise. If I cannot find an answer from The Ike Group then I have to rely on the experts who frequent this V/E sub-forum here on CCF.
