The year 1921 saw three different types of US commemorative coins released: 1921 Landing of the Pilgrims Tercentenary Half Dollar, 1921 Missouri Statehood Centennial Half Dollar and 1921 Alabama Statehood Centennial Half Dollar,

The 1921 Landing of the Pilgrims Tercentenary Half Dollar featured the same obverse and reverse designs as the 1920 edition, but with a small "1921" added to the obverse field to distingush it.

The 1921 Missouri Statehood Centennial Half Dollar is one of the few coins of the classic-era US series that depicts the same person on the obverse and reverse - Daniel Boone. The Half Dollar was issued in two varieties: Plain and 2*4. The designs for the two varieties are the same but an incuse "2*4" appears on the obverse of a limited run of the coins - the 2*4 represents Missouri being the 24th State to join the Union.

The 1921 Alabama Statehood Centennial Half Dollar features the conjoined portraits of Alabama's 1819 Governor - William Wyatt Bibb - and its 1919 Governor - Thomas Erby Kilby. The dates are a bit off because while Alabama marked its Statehood Centennial in 1919, the bill calling for a corresponding commemorative coin for the anniversary was not introduced until 1920 - the coin was not struck until late 1921.

The Half Dollar was issued in two varieties: Plain and 2X2. The designs for the two varieties are the same but an incuse "2X2" appears on the obverse of a limited run of the coins - the 2X2 represents Alabam's places as the 22nd State to join the Union.
