I recently reinvigorated my interest in coin collecting after having taken three years off due to Hurricane Katrina. I am getting to enjoy it again. However, this morning, I went to my bank and asked about half dollars. The teller told me that they had just shipped out a bunch of them yesterday and there were none in the tills.
A few minutes ago my son came over to the house. He is an officer at that bank branch. I asked him about what the teller had said to me. He said "Oh, no! I should have thought about you. We just shipped a whole bunch out yesterday. Several bags. They had been sitting in our vault for forever. - Several years!"
The halves went too the Federal Reserve and he cannot retrieve them. I wonder what was in that shipment. Wish I had asked last week instead of this one.
