This is a heavily worn Indian cent that I presume had a weakly struck 9(?) that just happened to have worn away first?

Struck through grease. You see this occasionally on Indian Heads, especially from the 1890s for some reason.

It's an 1895. Look at where the tail feather is pointing(C-A). 1885 is between I-C or at the C.

Well at least you know it is not an 1805.

Right, can't be 1885. Has to be 1895.
