Quote: NEVER lost a letter within Canada, it just doesn't happen, As a coin hobbyist -- yet still a businessman in an unrelated field, may I ask: have you entertained the possibility that a transaction between an honest seller and an honest buyer has run into the interference of a pandemic? If it's still a problem for you after six to eight weeks, you'll have reacted properly; if not, you didn't. My instinct would be to wait a bit before suggesting an apparently honest buyer has turned a page. Kevin

Ugh, when I was living in Canada, plenty went missing, especially out west... you just got lucky my friend. As for this case, just seems like a bit of a 'Karen' who can't deal with pandemic delays - I have taken to writing each buyer to let them know a realistic delivery time frame based on experience. Would I like to deal with her? NO. Is she a scammer? Not at all confirmed.

Unfortunately, all one has to do is take a second look at the feedbacks they've recently been giving other sellers for the spell of "potentially honest buyer" to be broken... But hey, maybe it really is just a massive Karen! Crossing my fingers, but not hopeful. Pacificoin - tracked shipping... Ah the dream of cheap tracked shipping... Notwithstanding the horror stories about postal employees my father loves to tell from back in the 70's, I've just come to the conclusion on that subject that a basic probability analysis means that any coin under 100$ goes lettermail and I eat the costs when it happens. Tracked shipping is $13 per item more than lettermail, assuming that that money either goes to shipping or my pocket, that means that as long as my average losses/order are below $13, I have to pick the lettermail route to maximize my profits. with the average cost of losses at 2.5 or so $/ package, as much as I hate when this happens I see few other ways of doing it. Talked to ebay this morning, not very hopeful. Let's be honest, not hopeful. Thanks for the suggestions everyone! LRC

I actually worked for the Post office 22 years plus . Little does go missing , but what happens is this ..... If you send coins letter mail , they go through sortation machines and occasionally Get destroyed, lost, whatever or destroy the belts on the sortation machines . Our tech in Victoria Plant had quite a collection over the years . Best was a US five dollar gold sent in a letter ! If your business model does not include tracking , oh well , guess that is what is known as self insuring , just be aware too many complaints or "losses" there goes your account in good standing with ebay / PayPal . Like I said we learned the hard way ! BTW ..... cheap track shipping is possible for us because we are near the US border and most stuff goes to the USA anyways . $3 to 4 dollars for piece of mind .

It's a miracle, E-bay hasn't closed the cases in the buyer's favour, for once... They must really have gotten bombed with complaints against this guy. LRC

The fact that the user filed a complaint after 3 weeks (rather unreasonable under the circumstances) confirms what you suspected. An honest buyer first contacts the seller if there is an issue. ebay practically encourages scamming-this subject has come up numerous times here in the CCF. All the reason to screen the buyers.

This guy is impressive... Now he's trying with a PayPal case! No experience with those, so I just said in the comments section that ebay had identified the buyer as a scammer, added a few screenshots of the now closed case... But I have little idea how this one will turn out. LRC
