Found this Kennedy half 1992 D. I am baffled as to what may have caused this damage. In the Reverse picture, 11:30 and 8 0'clock is at the Ds.

Looks raised and not incuse. This may be a genuine mint error. Perhaps die dents?

Thank you for your reply. In my limited experience, I haven't seen anything similar. I was unfamiliar with the term Die Dent. Will look that up. Thanks again.

My first thought is a Cud with a nasty scratch down the middle, but the rim is there so I don't think that this can be correct.

Couldn't the reverse still show up if the Cud is retained?

Often times the details are poorly struck up on the opposite side of the coin directly across from the Cud as the metal that would normally have flowed into those details has pooled in the space where the chunk of die is missing. This is more pronounced with larger Cuds and I think not apparent at all with Retained Cuds.

These don't look like Cuds I have seen before.

Looks like the coin was hit on the upper edge of the reeds to alter the edge. Just a damaged coin from what I can see.
