A 1894-S Barber half. In G-4 or so condition, no less, but he received the 114-year old coin as change from it. What a find. He found it while visiting his ill grandpa on the other coast of Florida, and upon his return he gave it to me.

I'm carrying it around as a pocket piece now, to replace the old pocket piece I lost- a 1920 G-6 Walking Liberty half given to me years ago by my own grandpa. Oh, how I wish I hadn't lost it...

All in all, I have a neat pocket piece 26 years my old one's senior. Can't complain.

I do not know about it giving change back, but it is possible it was a reject that someone forgot to reclaim.

You have friends in parking meters? They must be very small.

hahahaha. How's "received from a friend by a parking meter?"

and yeah I think it was a reject too. That makes the most sense now that I think about it.

Florida's weird.

That's what I was thinking when I read the title.

Good find
