I got this beauty this past summer. One of our floorlayers dropped it on my desk and asked if I wanted it.

That's pretty cool...I'm not quite sure the process here...was the planchet cut out off-center?

It looks to me like the strike was on center - but the core was off center. My guess is that the the outer 'washer' planchet was properly seated when struck, but the center core was not. One edge of the center core appears to have been resting on the inner lip of the outer ring when struck. Whatever that cause, it is a nice error.
