Phoneguy Valued Member United States 60 Posts	Posted 12/19/2008 4:17 pm Hi Everybody, I posted in the paper money forum about a 1953 two a teller gave me. At the same bank a different teller offered me what he said was an " odd shiny coin." It was a 1947 Walker. The pictures aren't too good but it doesn't matter very much. The coin is so harshly cleaned as to be mirror like. A nice pick up for fifty cents but ruined as a collectible. Phoneguy Valued Member United States 60 Posts	Posted 12/19/2008 4:45 pm Under my loupe it's very scratched. The high points are just about gone. The eagles breast feathers are barely visible. Libertys dress pleats are mostly gone. The coins rims are there but badly dinged. There are traces of white hardened stuff just inside the rims. I think it's commercial silver cleaner and that's a shame. It's still a bit of silver of course. I don't think anybody could harm the coin any further, well maybe with a hammer. It's a pocket piece now. Eyes light up when folks see it. Report this Post to the Staff
