Dear Forum Members,

I have a $10 1990 series bill in fair condition which is unremarkable except for a green Federal Reserve seal. (I'm not talking about the treasury seal which is always green). I can't find any information online. It appears genuine and has the strip woven between the layers. One person I talked to suggested that perhaps the seal had faded. The seal looks quite clear and the rest of the bill does not show signs of fading so the explanation doesn't make sense to me. It looks like the wrong ink was used during printing. Have any of you heard such a thing? I don't know whether I have something mundane or if this is truly rare. I was considering sending it off to be graded but it's expensive especially if I'm not looking at anything interesting. Thanks for any help!
-Andrew

That note looks bleached, its like 99.9% certain the green seal is a chemical reaction with whatever cleaned the note.

Welcome to CCF.
The District Seal should actually be black, not green. I would guess that since the note is approximately 30 years old, and the lifespan of $10 notes is about six years, that this note sat idle for some time. I suspect the discoloration of the District Seal can be attributed to chemical or environmental damage. This is how the note should look.
