Is this a possible error around the horse's eye on the reverse?

I believe it's part of the design...Native Americans were known to "paint" their horses..or at least that's what I learned from Dances With Wolves....

Yes, that "ring" around the horse's eye is part of the design.

It is a low mintage and I think it's an NIFC, I'll hold on to it. Thank you all for welcoming me to CCF.

Related Question. The Native American coins were not released into circulation? Only sold from the mint in rolls Etc.?

After the Presidents series ended it looks like rougly 5-6 Million Native American coins are made each year.

@PPorro -- from 2012 to present, N.A. $1 coins have been NIFC. You can look at mintages here, as posted by the U.S. Mint (look under "circulating coins"): https://www.usmint.gov/about/produc...s-production

Production has been generally trending downward and in 2020 dipped to 1.26 million (Denver) and 1.40 million (Philadelphia).
