I found this 2001 quarter while doin laundry and I'm unsure if it is a result of a mint error or simple wear.

Someone ground the edges. Just an abused coin. Spend away although it may no longer work in a vending machine.

Well, Rothery, if you're "doin laundry" and you find two coins, the odds might be quite high. Could be a laundry thing , as in, maybe the beginnings of a drier coin?
