Unknown Black Line On Quarter - Coin Community Forum

What is this black line on this quarter that I otherwise like a lot? It does not seem to cut into the metal but rather be on the surface? Any remedy? Thanks, N. Report this Post to the Staff

Numisto Valued Member United States 195 Posts	Posted 04/02/2021 4:57 pm i did just try acetone. Left it for 20 minutes or so but the line didn't go anywhere. I have found that, if acetone is going to work, it does it in about 2 seconds. Is there any benefit to soaking for a longer time? Report this Post to the Staff

It is hard to tell from your pics as they are a bit blurry and taken through the 2x2 window. Is there displaced metal such as from a scratch?
