Chopped Triumphs Pillar of the Community United States 562 Posts	Posted 05/14/2021 07:46 am 1921 D "Engraved" Morgan dollar overstruck on a genuine 1921 D Morgan. Morgan dollars were originally minted for 17 years 1878-1904. Then again in 1921. This would have been the first and last year for the Denver mint to produce Morgan silver dollars. The first 100 coins were set aside for engraving for ceremonial distribution, however unforeseeable problems with the engraving occurred and the first two coins were presented without the engraving. The first one went to the governor and the second to the Colorado School of Mines. Only 10 coins #3 through #12 would have the distinguished engraving. The engraving followed the curve of the rim in the field in front of liberty face. "TH DOLLAR RELEASED FROM THE DENVER MINT/THOMAS ANNEAR" Daniel Carr's Morgan.. Have a good day and enjoy!
