There are a few possibilities but I honestly can't be positive on any of them. Can't find anything similar either. Any information would be appreciated.

Yes, took a hit. Copper, being a relatively soft metal, can be moved/re-shaped when hit.

It looks like vending/gum machine damage. The angle of the damage on the 2 is parallel to the rim.

I like that explanation! See cents with this type of date damage frequently on the forum.

Note the motto and Liberty devices. They tell me this die was really polished and mad those devices a lot smaller than normal.
