I know this is not a valuable penny, but I've always wanted one and found this for $18 this week. I think it could go about AU58, but would like a more experienced opinion, so I would appreciate thoughts on it. Thanks in advance.

Can you sharpen up those pics, especially the reverse?

Well I have bad news and I have good news . The bad is it's far from an AU-58 . The good news is it's a nice looking no problem VF-30 -35 . Don't worry if you now think you might have paid too much . We all were in that boat at one time or another .

These look better to me and I think they are as good as I can get with this camera. Thanks for the help.

From what I'm seeing, it is more special than you think. Note the very first image. Look at the date devices. Note how full the digits look. Note the fields on your coin. They are all flat and mostly free of any die scratches, alterations don't appear. Note the reverse design. Very nice! But I feel you have a very nice die state. keep this coin protected. Keep fingerprints away from it. I can't say for sure, but it looks like a nice die state coin. I see a die chip on the 'S'. So this coin has been in a collection all its life.

Thank you very much, I will protect this coin and keep it very nice, I've wanted one of these for a long time. If I can ask one more question, would an acetone bath be a bad idea? I've been wondering about that.

I'd leave it as it is. No need to do the wrong thing and mess something up.

Thank you, it's going back into a protector exactly as it is then. By the way, congratulations on your recent 50,000th post!

Your 2nd set of photos is showing a much better grade coin . EF-45 would be a much better call .
