I'm new to collecting errors and this is my first post. This is a 2018 P Apostle Islands Quarter. Have done some searching and can not find an example of this error. Curious to know what is in the field in front of Washington's nose. It looks like the edge of another coin. Any help would be appreciated.

I have one of those on a Kennedy I found the other day. I believe it is caused by the edge of another coin being smashed into it leaving an imprint. on mine if you look closely you can see where the metal was pushed up. The experts will probably have a better explanation though.

Regards, Eric

Not an error, that's a bag mark. ( PMD)
Eric wats gave a good explanation.

@jdal, first welcome to CCF. Second, yes this is just damage and @eric nailed the reason.
