That's one well-worn nickel--circulation flattening, blizzard of rubs/dings/hits, and a hint of roll wrapping and/or vending machine damage. Late(r) die state in-play it seems. Not seeing a RPM.

@putt, I don't think that the serifs are split, but rather you are seeing a little bit of step-like Machine Doubling (e.g. on the N of CENTS).
