Approximate Date/Mint Of 4 Reales Cob.

Volvicch Valued Member Spain 112 Posts	Posted 05/29/2021 11:24 pm Hello all. I was recently given a 4 reales cob, apparently from a shipwreck. I suspect it has been clipped, as it weighs in at 12,13 grams and normal 4 reales cobs are north of 13 grams. My knowledge about these types of coins is very limited so I was wondering if someone here could give me some feedback on mint, assayer and approximate year. Numisma Pillar of the Community United States 4963 Posts	Posted 05/30/2021 02:06 am I'm not an expert on these, but what I can say with some degree of confidence is that it was minted in Mexico City. I think yours is this type: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces14995.html According to Numista, the F would date yours to 1607 or 1611-1614. The specific date will likely be tough to make out.
