Not sure if it's a rpm or glare. You are right, coins with a very shiny surface can be very difficult to photograph. Glare is crazy. Try using defused lighting by placing a piece of white paper over your light source (or use daylight).
The last image makes it look like a contact mark on that upper serif and the SW area on the mintmark. Only one listing for that year: http://www.varietyvista.com/12%20Ke...4DRPM001.htm This one is not RPM-001. Looks like a normal MM with slight coin contact.
