i have found around 60 odd now , but I have only kept the best dozen or so

Easy - spd-dmn - I think you need to live in QLD... I also have had & continue to find them with regularity, and apart from my roll would have about 20 or so loose ones in my "kept" change. And surprisingly I get a lot of 2004 $1's as well.

Hi all,

As I mentioned in the other thread on this dollar dealing with die fill of the Kangaroos especially their faces, this coin was not intended. It came about as an error with the dies and it is possible too many had already been produced to melt them down. Some may have already left the Mint. It was decided to mint more and release them to legitimise the muled coins. This has come from people inside the Mint.

So how should this coin be described?

If any member overseas would like one of these coins sent to them, please just ask and I will gladly send you one. You may do the same for me some day with your commemorative nickels and quarters.
