I mentioned this one last week when @spence posted a similar type...
Bishopric of Wurzburg, shilling that can be dated to 1443 (depending a bit on the source), Ehwald 5601. Also a COVID pickup.

Good one @tdz--I have a similar piece, although I have the attribution as Ehwald 5607. Maybe we have two of several different variations for that year? Or maybe I wrote down the wrong number? Either seem equally possible and I don't have that reference so I can't check...

For today, I have this Pfennig from the German Free City of Augsburg. It is datable to 1441 AD and is attributed as Steinhilber 177 and Förschner 38. That is a letter B on the rev.

Here is a New Ecu minted in Tournai France that can be dated to 1445 AD. I have it attributed as Duplessy 511a.

Awesome coins, everyone!

Looks like so far we've covered all of 1446-40, but none of 1449-47.
Assuming my 1452 date is correct (still not sure), this means that the remaining gaps until 1440 are (1486, 1460,) 1453, 1449, 1448, 1447; last time I did an estimate, the next three gaps after 1450 were 1445, 1435, 1432, which suggests that 1449-47 will likely show up this week.

It will be interesting to see what the 1440-1400 range looks like. In the 14th century, of course, we'll have a lot more Islamic coins to work with...

Yes quite a bounty for this decade! The 1430s are a bit more sparse for me as I only have 4/10 years so far. I do have some coins that cover a broader range of years though so overall I'm thinking that we will have plenty of eye candy when we drop back.

I have examples of a couple Hungarian coins already posted by @eddie: Huszar 605 (datable to 1442 AD) and Huszar 618 (datable to 1446 AD) that I'm not planning to post as he has covered these amazingly well.

@j1m, you were asking about the end of this current decade. Here is a Groschen from the German Archbishopric of Cologne dated 1449 AD. It is attributed as Levinson I-87 and celebrated its 10 year anniversary of being in my collection a few months back. As was common at that time in this area, the date is in Roman Numerals (M C CCC XLIX).

Here are my last two coins to post for this decade: a couple Groschen from Trier and Cologne dated 1448 and 1447, respectively. The coin minted in Trier was produced at the Coblenz mint and is attributed as Levinson I-86. The coin minted in Cologne was produced at the Riehl mint and is attributed as Levinson I-81. It has a bit of a flan crack, but seems relatively stable. I like pairing these two because it helps to draw out the similarities of design as well as the differences. For example, in looking at the shield trefoil, you can see that the central shield is the one to focus on to figure out who issued the coin. On the flip side, St. Peter helpfully holds a shield which indicates the issuer as well.

Any more 1440s out there? Let's drop back to the 1430s starting tomorrow if not.

That last pair of Rhineland groschens were lovely! And between that region and Hungary, coverage for the 1440s was really amazing
I also like seeing a coin cited by its Numista number

I don't have any single date coins for the 1430s . Closest I get is this tiny heller from the Duchy of Brieg in Silesia, which I see in auction listings as "circa 1430." Kopicki 4910.

In the description HPF is very clear - there's a dotted border on both sides of 690B, and by implication, not on 690A. In their photos, it's as clear as mud!

690A definitely has a dotted border on the reverse, which matches your coin.

But it looks to me as if 690B has a dotted border on the obverse, and 690A doesn't. Yours seems to have a border, although it isn't like the example they give for 690B.

I have a few coins of the Lancastrian kings, which helps for the next few decades. I don't have any of Henry VI past the 1430s, I think because the Calais mint was so prolific early on in his reign and then all but ceased production in the middle of it.

This one is from the London mint, which isn't rare but a lot scarcer than his Calais issues.

Nice portrait, nice patina!

Seems like a good time to post this denar of Wladislaw III of Poland, the same Wladyslaw whose Hungarian coins we saw last week. I've always wondered why he never brought Hungarian artisans to the Krakow mint to upgrade the quality of the coins made there during his reign, 1434-1444 (10 years, 109 days)

I love the flurry of activity for this decade too!

Here is a Double Gros from France that is datable to 1431 AD. It is attributed as Duplessy 488c and Roberts 2906.
